The Reason Obama/Biden is Winning
A Videos entry from Saturday, October 25, 2008A right-wing reporter asks some blatant McCain talking point attack questions to Joe Biden. Biden deftly and concisely handles each of the charges and asserts himself as a formidable and experienced running mate.
This is the reason Obama/Biden is winning. None of these straw man talking points stick and the ridiculous rhetoric of middle-class tax cuts somehow being Marxist makes the right sound like fools.
Even when the interview is skewed to the extreme the attacks just don’t make sense. At least the trivialities of the Bush campaigns against democrats had some focus and possible validity (i.e. perhaps Kerry did change his mind on some positions), the attacks by the GOP this cycle have been so far removed from anything real that they’ve fallen on deaf ears.

The other thing too is that in 2004 Bush and his cronies did a great job of forming a narrative that they rarely if ever strayed away from. Basically everything about John Kerry was lumped into that single narrative about him being a wishy-washy draft-dodging gay liberal who we couldn’t afford to have in a time of war. On the other hand, the McCain campaign has tried to solely win news cycles, which ended up backfiring on them since it simply ended up appearing that they didn’t really have a “message” or a “narrative” to pin Obama down to, and whenever they tried (much later in the game), it always ended up backfiring.

Fox News coverage of this has been phenomenal; right up there with their hard-hitting analysis of how ACORN is seizing control of the nation. In about a week Greta van Susteren has gone from news pieces on missing white girls to being an ever-vigilant watchdog of our ballot boxes. Oh wait…
In any case, the reporter (Barbara West)’s husband is, surprise surprise, a consultant to various Republican/conservative initiatives. Wonder who those question were really coming from…
