Neobamacon

For those that still think Obama is an “ideal candidate,” check out this laundry list of cringe-inducing positions adopted by our democratic Patron Saint, carefully culled together by Bernard Chazelle over at A Tiny Revolution. To wit, he’s still way better than WALNUTS!, but he is no Pericles.

Aw, here I was hoping to be presented with new policies that I could point to when confronted by the standard college Obama fanatic, but instead it turns out to be a somewhat typical far-left tirade. I suppose our definitions of “cringe-inducing” and “Pericles” are dissimilar.

To be sure, some of Chazelle’s commentary is passably interesting; specifically in regard to the US-backed NATO operations in Eastern Europe and the NED’s funding of the French UNI. (Though the former’s issue of expansion could be taken as a response to the ongoing conflict in the former satellite states, and less so as anti-Russian jokeying. Moreover, Russia’s reluctance to Georgia’s admittance into the MA plans clearly stems from their…less than democratic dealings with that nation and their elections; therefore, that particular brand of whining can be seen as no different than China’s in regard to Taiwan. As for the comment on the UNI, that’s an odd choice, considering there are a multitude of examples from Central and South America of US-backed initiatives/candidates that have blown up in our faces. Interesting that Chazelle chooses only to recognize an ultra-conservative party that was backed. Though I suppose certain socialists in the South might be well liked by this particular writer…)

As for the Iraqi commentary and the Israeli “terrorism”, I pretty much got the standard “blah blah left-wing blah blah chlidren blah gumdrops blah blah” mentality that one generally gets from the average dailykos poster. That’s unfortunate, because both scenarios obviously deserve our attention and criticism. Instead, Chavelle provides it only lip-service, and, what’s worse, supplies no factual evidence to support his conclusions (ironic considering his closing regarding the fact-supported dissenter). Where is he drawing his rationale for comments such as “Obama wants to talk to the ayatollahs, and then vaporize them”? Over-reliance on cherry-picked quotes is best left to Hannity and Coulter.

Reading that article has only strengthened my opinion of Chazelle’s “commentary”.

Dreyfuss doesn’t solely critique Obama’s policies, and in fact provides numerous quotes/explanations that reveal a well-grounded, rational basis behind various platforms. (i.e. the analysis of nuclear nonproliferation and the open discussions with Syria, etc.)

Chazelle claiming that Obama would cow-tow to Israel is no different than the Jewish claim that he is revealing himself to be anti-Semitic (ala Jimmy Carter). Somehow both extremes see a very different man.
