Hugo Chávez: Stalinist Totalitarian Part I
A Links entry from Monday, December 3, 2007Hugo Chávez: Stalinist Totalitarian Part I
The New York Times reports that the totalitarian, neo-Stalinist dictator Hugo Chávez’s proposed constitutional changes were narrowly defeated and that the power-mad tyrant has conceded defeat.
The faces of evil!

Roddy
Chavez wants to be the new Castro. He is already fomenting Castro like policies in Latin America and certainly has his periscope pointed at Washington DC. This guy is an idiot with visions of grandeuer. His vision is unfortunately myopic and he is a dictator in waiting. Thang God he didnt get his way, but Watch that space..this man is a political Rotweiler and now that he has his teeth in the flesh of Venez politics, he wont let go.

Thanks for your brilliant comment. I can’t even imagine the plethora of horrible things such a vile “dictator in waiting” might be trying to “foment.” You’ve done a great service alerting us to this epic threat and it is up to the forces of freedom to be ever vigilant.

Are you upset by the defeat of proposed changes Bryan? It seems like you’re more upset that Chavez’s defeat tacitly implies a victory for more rightist organizations, whom you clearly don’t like (ie “forces of freedom”…”ever vigilant”…bushisms).
I don’t especially disagree with you, I’m sure Fox will have a field day with this one. I’d caution against losing sight of the other outcomes of this event…a “forest through the trees mentality” doesn’t really help. I’d take this as a good thing, regardless if it’ll fuel the neo-patriotic grandstanding that has become annoyingly widespread.
I might be reading you wrong though, sarcasm really doesn’t transfer well over the Internet unless its unbelievably exaggerated. I’m more basing my comment off of your reaction to “Roddy” or whatever. If that’s the case, my bad.
Bryan Klausmeyer
I’m somewhat indifferent to the results of the vote, simply because I think it’s more of an internal issue to Venezuela.
The sarcasm is purely in reference to the obviously overblown criticism of Chavez as a freedom-hating orthodox Stalinist.
